My Career and Educational Goals

I’m Spencer Wright. I’m a UVU student studying Web Design and Development with an emphasis in Interaction & Design. I am really passionate about design and am super excited to work in the UX design field as a career.

Educational Goals

My time at UVU has been great so far. I’ve loved working on a variety of projects that have allowed me to get experience work in many aspects of digital media. I look forward to learning more about the design process and how to design with the user in mind. The courses I have taken to this point have also helped me to create portfolio pieces I can show to potential employers in the future. My goal is to finish out the degree so that I can keep learning the skills that will be vital in the workplace.

Getting Started: Entry-Level Career Goal

After I graduate I would like to work at a place where I can grow in my skills as a designer. Somewhere, where I can expand on the abilities and training I received while at UVU. I would like to work as a UX designer, ideally on various different projects where I can gain new experience and make a difference. I would also like to freelance to continue to build my portfolio and my professional network.

The Endgame: Long-range Career Goal

If I were to project forward into the future, my long-term goal would be to work as a full-time UX designer at a medium-sized design agency. I think it would be fun to work on a bunch of different projects with a variety of companies. Another long-range goal I have is to be able to do work, either as a volunteer or on staff to support a nonprofit organization. My brother Andrew has Down syndrome and I have learned a lot from him that I think I can apply to a nonprofit that supports Down syndrome or some other worthy cause.
